I’ve been dwelling on this idea for a while, and I wanted to share it with anyone who has an entrepreneurial mindset or is considering consulting or starting a business someday.
Don’t let your current job get in the way of your future career and success.
From my own experience, I understand how easy it is to get completely absorbed in your current job and work environment—and how stressful it is to manage a demanding work life while juggling family and personal obligations piled on top.
At the end of the day—you are the only one taking care of your career and wellbeing.
In this video, I talk about the importance of ensuring that you’re leveraging your current role to build your personal brand on LinkedIn. I hope it resonates with you and helps you consider how you can invest in your future while balancing the present.
This is the full 3-minute video vs. the shortened version posted on my LinkedIn feed.
I know that not all people are video-watching people, so I’ve included the transcript.

You can connect with them on LinkedIn and stay in touch with them on LinkedIn, but also put some content out there that really talks about your area of expertise. And through their contacts, bring in more people into your realm of influence that you wouldn’t have had contact with otherwise, that you won’t just get through word of mouth.

You want to make sure that no matter how busy your current job is, that even if you have to put that on the shelf for an hour every week to make sure that you’re building your brand—in the years to come, you will thank yourself that you did that, that you’ve got that brand built and ready for you. For you when you want to really focus on your future dreams.
